Roller Derby is a full-contact sport played on quad Roller Skates. The South Okanagan Roller Derby Association began in 2011 as a women's only league and in 2023 the official change to an open gender league was implemented. That same year the league introduced the exciting addition of the Okanagan's first Junior Roller Derby team, the Okanagan Outlaws.
The first step is contacting our recruitment team at southokanaganrollerderby@gmail.com!
We may have some basic questions for you like, Have you skated before? Played any contact sports?
We offer our new recruits 3 free practices including the use of league gear to get the feel for your natural ability and/or skill level. Skaters are required to supply their own mouthguard.
Once we know you're coming, and what size gear you will need, you are welcome to join us at practices!
Our typical schedule is Tuesday and Thursday 6:30PM to 8:30PM. Our venue changes depending on the time of year, but we always host in Penticton.
Join our SORDA Recruits & Volunteers Facebook Page for practice details! Official Membership discussions are hosting on BAND.
